Clay's Choice

The Stahl Event Barn on Lucas Road between Cadillac and McBain is home to a vibrant red, white and blue quilt block.  A family quilt was the inspiration for the block.
The barn on this Centennial Farm has been repurposed and is now the site of many weddings, proms, family reunions.  There are several photo-ops around the barn and outbuildings and the quilt block is one of them.

Windmill

The Manton Area Heritage Restoration Group was formed to encourage economic development in the Manton area by improving buildings.  We are focused on the restoration of the Phelps Brothers Warehouse (granary) in downtown Manton.  It was build in 1900 and suffered from neglect for the 5 years prior to our purchase.  We bought it in October of 2014, put a new roof on it and have spent many work sessions cleaning it up.  We now have engineered plans to bring it up to code.  The quilt block will call attention to our efforts and enhance this historical building.

Herweyer Centennial Farm

Herweyer Centennial Farm

This unusual quilt block is in remembrance of Rich Herweyer's mother, who most likely made the quilt, which appears to be made from wool clothing.
The barn is situated on the Clam River east of Vogel Center.  It can be viewed from an open space across the river where canoeists often pause to rest.
This is a wonderful old barn, which has been well taken care of, and has been converted into various workshops.
